Hi there,
I am selling some motorcycle parts, and some of the potential bidders
have asked for the VIN numbers of the bike, as in particular, some of
the products I am selling I am told were re-called at one time or
another. Is this safe to give out to someone? I havent got a clue
what you could do with a VIN Number, but it seems iffy to me...
I wouldn't - too easy to stamp on a frame, especially if the "buyer"
isn't in the UK so *nobody* will notice that there are two bikes with
the same frame number about.
Hey again,
I'm not scrapping a bike, it never was scrapped. It got triked so
didnt require the whole rear area (mudguard, foot rests, stands, diff,
wheel, etc). Thanks for the thoughts, I've since found out I cant get
the VIN as the trike has been sold on, but my friend informs me that
the company he got it from (fairly big I would say!), never contacted
him about it.
He owned it from new, triked it after a month or so of use to be his
flagship for his company, and only recently sold it as he rarely used
it anymore, but the buyer didnt want any of the original parts (come
to think of it, they wouldnt need them again...) so to ebay they went!
