I sold a stick of RAM to a buyer about 8 weeks ago. I never heard
anything back after I had posted it.
Today I get: "Hi, can you leave me feedback for the RAM that I bought a
few weeks ago, please?"
This is from a buyer with 544 feedback and on ebay for 5 years, Also a
seller.

I send back that it is usual for the buyer to leave feedback to show
their much happy joy etc etc. Then receive it from the seller

I asked him if he was happy with the RAM? Still to receive a reply yet.

I mean what is it here with peeps??

Regards,

Tyger.
I am a buyer and never sold, but do understand the philosophy of feedback. I know it has it's limitations but here is my view on feedback.

Feedback is based on the experience of both the buyer and seller.
The buyer can judge the experience after paying and recieving the item or service based on the following relation to the item description and funcionality, packaging, communication with seller, speed of provision of item/service and problem resolution in the unfortunate event of something going wrong. (i.e. the buyer feels no further dealings are needed with the seller regarding this particular item/service)

The seller can only comment once the buyer is satisfied or dis-satisfied and hence a return is either not required or has been resolved. (retaliation should not be used unless the feedback recieved is unfounded).

Going back to your point though. Feedback is voluntary and should not be expected or demanded by either party but is a common curtossy only. A point I made when a car dealer recently contacted me to remind me I hadn't filled in a questionaire of their service, and given a lecture how the salesman's bonus was reliant on this. I would have given feedback via this questionaire if it wasn't intrussive with it's questions as I had no problems with either the motor or service provided. I also would have given a bad account if this call was from the salesman himself.

Ebays feedback though is not intrusive.
