I have now found out that it is one firewire cable costing £15!
I wrote offering the refund including postage both ways. He then demanded the money for the cable as well.
To be honest if I was the buyer and had bought an extra cable without
first checking the item I would feel ashamed to make a demand for
reimbursement unless of course the drive failed within a short period
afterwards.
What you have offered is a decent thing but you need to check the
drive out before repaying anything.
I am still wondering why you haven't been able to offer this buyer a
fix for their problem?
What is this special thing you should have done to this drive that
could not be accomplished with a little knowledge and 3 minutes from
his XP machine?
Does no Lacie offer disk management software?
Pete
Lacie don't provide for XP or OSX as i use as they reckon the required tools are already in the system. I think along the lines you were stating in the previous reply. What you stated came as a revelation to me as I have no real knowledge of Windows or XP as I work on a Mac. I am aware the on my Mac I can tackle just about any disc format that is thrown at me by reformatting it to my requirement, OK I will lose everything on the disc but that is alright in this case as the disc is blank.
I too have heard about the limit with FAT32. However the disc at present is formatted to HFS+.
Where you say about accessing the "Administrators Tools" that would be excellent but I think he doesn't want to know as he states that he just wants one that will "Plug 'n' Play". I may email later and ask if he has tried this. If he has success he may keep it.
Thank you very much Pete. Any further info would be welcomed.
