I usually wait for confirmation from RM that the item has been lost.
Unfortunately there are too many 'buyers' around who will claim that
they haven't received the item when it has in fact been delivered. I
think both buyer and seller need to strike a reasonable compromise, as
the problem's not usually the fault of either (except where people
don't know their own postcode, etc!).
