I dont care if my webpages validate - the only thing i care about
is
that they look and work fine in all the major browsers .

The validator god is your god - not mine or his .


"All major browsers", but what about those browsers that are not
mainstream but are vital to people being able to use the web - from
those who can't access content displayed by JavaScript (due to their
adim dept. disabling JS) to those who are reliant on screen-readers?

Validation is not about the author, it's to do with the end user and
making every effort of ensure that they can access the web what ever
*their* browser is.
