Don't worry, elections soon so we'll have a PC wibble
to take our minds off what day of the week it is - for those who
haven't lost the will to live by then, obviously.

Hardly seems worth the bother. Since the last elections the committee
has had nothing to do. Why, even the mould on the coffee cups has
evolved into a small mammal. Is this really the heat death of Usenet?

It had evolved, I'm afraid it got run over in the rush for positions on
the Committee. The vet says it should be OK by the 2007 elections...

As one of the 3 due to retire, I've been wondering - what on earth does one
put in a statement when standing for election?
"I want use of the black helicopter and unlimited supplies of chocolate
hobnobs"?

You, Jim, and me.

It's as reasonable as "wanting to serve the community", this year. :-)

Indeed, I'm thinking of handing over the position of Control to a
PDP-8, it shouldn't overload it. After all, no one will ever need more
than 4K (12-bit) words of core...

(Actually, I regard the lack of anything to do as a sign that everything
is now perfect...)
