REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION (RFD)
This is a formal Request For Discussion (RFD) for the following changes
in the uk.* Usenet hierarchy:
create unmoderated newsgroup uk.current-events.bird-flu
the slow-track is completed :)
Is this a good place to float a thought about uk.* newsgroup clutter? We've had
a good clear-out of dead groups recently (sorry, I forget who spearheaded that,
but it was a good job, well done IMO) and the bird-flu group has the potential
to become another dead group in a few months or a year or so's time so....
How do folk feel about a sunset clause being inserted in the charter of this
group and groups like this in future? Instead of having to run through an RFD
etc to rmgroup it, simply declare that the group will automatically be expired
say, one year later, unless there's evidence of its continued usefulness.
Just my two centavos.
