Thanks guys , that tip about using a different room probably is the
most obvious to try first , but the problem is using the Pc at the
same time . Im set up in a small room with a huge window , bare
painted walls and a thinnish carpet so i guess its all not helping .
What about the Behringer , and what are the benefits of using a more
expensive unit .
I do like the idea of using a different space , but how do i get long
headphones and is there a way of working Cubase remotely , without
having somebody sitting in on the session .
You can get all manner of headphone extension leads, splitter and
junction boxes, etc. So that's no problem.
It occurs to me, have you got a laptop? I gave up on my PC for most
recording - especially acoustic guitar. The laptop is quieter *and*
portable so moving to different rooms is then a snip.
Steve.
Aye i do have a laptop but no where near powerful enough to install
sx , but i see where your coming from .It might be possible to
install smaller more basic audio software and record the acoustic to
the sx backing track in a different place , sort of an outside
broadcast scenario .

It would also depend on what soundcard you were using on the laptop.
I now use an EMU 0202USB which is portable and gives good results even
with the laptop which isn't particuarlly high spec. The internal card
just plain sucks.
But even then, if you got a signal in you could always record and then
export the sound file as a wav to the desktop. If you wanted to
integrate it into some sort of sequencing software then I can see all
sorts of trouble ahead, but if you wanted the acoustic track as the
core of a lead or rhythm part with no MIDI etc then it could work.
I've even recorded to MD using my little stereo mic and then just
slapped the wav into Sonar. I like that little mic.
Steve.
