It is remarkably close to a real upright.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Any users here?

I think its worth pointing that if your recording into your pc ,
workstation whatever etc then you can get away with just about any
Bass you can find , be it a 25 quid Wesley ( my guitar of choice ) or
one of the usual big name guitars (.Not important ! ) As long as the
neck is fairly cool and rattles are not to audible these cheap basses
perform remarkably well . It seems hot pick-ups are not that
important . I run my signal into the Behringer v- amp , set it to
clean , strip the reverb add compression , BINGO ! or you can run it
through Ampeg svx vst , but i have found even that aint really
necessary .

Cheap Basses really do kick serious ass in the home recording
environment . .

you may be right (in fact, my £34 Alba Precision is decent enough) but
this
wasn't about finding a cheap bass for recording. The Ashbory is not
exactly
expensive 'though, but it is a very different sort of bass.

Still interested to hear when you get it, and how much you get charged
etc. i am interested in going for one of those.

Hi Woody,

well, I haven't got it with me yet, but on Monday 15th I received a leter
from ParcelForce telling me they have it but I had to pay first the
corresponding taxes. I had to pay £30 plus £8 (handling fee, the latter). I
then asked to get it delivered at my local post office, from where I'll
collect on saturday morning. So total cost £193, for a brand new Ashbory.
Just over 2 weeks to arrive. Not bad.

Let's see if I can play the thing now ;-)
