Anyone know the cheapest place to buy a Fender USA strat ?

I'm not at all sure that a US Strat is the best. One of my mates is
looking for a guitar so I dug out an old (well - 6 year old) Chinese
Squier which was sitting around doing nothing at MIL's house and A/B'd
it with a '78 Strat - it was brighter, more funky. The action wasn't
as good - but that can be fixed. Certainly the pups were more lively,
and much louder. Interesting...
According to someone on this NG (I forget who - apologies) the '78 is
worth about £1000. The Squier cost £120. I'm not sure which one to
lend to my friend!
Anyway, the cheapest place to buy a USA Strat is probably Nashville -
what you save on the guitar you can spend on the airfare and have a
bit of fun shopping around.
The Hooters on 2nd Street is a pretty cool place to get a burger, hem
hem...
The exchange rate at the moment is so good you can justify a trip to
the states anytime you like and still get a bargain.
And don't worry about the customs mob - I walked straight through with
a brand new Telecaster in a Corner Music soft case and they didn't
even blink.
