Next week I start working full time for one of Scandinavias leading music
chains as a guitar salesman/QC/"minor repairs"person.
I had my "baptism of fire" last weekend, and managed to sell a Gibson or two
while getting to grips with the system.
At the job interview I proudly wore my vintage UKMG National PU 2002 shirt.
Needless to say, it didn't diminsh my chances in getting the job in any way.
(According to the boss it proved I was serious. What does he know? Beer and
curry being serious?)
I'd like to think that my time spent on UKMG since 1999 or so has
contributed in no small way towards me securing this position.
In many ways it may have been a catalyst for my desire to let my life take a
sudden shift onto this new path.
So I pledge:
I will sell Yamaha Pacifica guitars to minors, knowing you all stand firmly
behind me.
I will discuss Vox AC30's past and present with customers, sure that the
combined know-how of UKMG stand behind me every inch of the way.
I will try to give good advice, not only the most expensive one.
I will try to make a living from this, so that I can show up at a future PU
to haunt you with strange stories in a foreign tounge,
and buy you all a round.
I will probably buy the complete left wall of the shop I work in if I live
long enough.
I will instigate a UKMG deal, with 1% off everything if this mail is
mentioned.
I will mention you all in my prayers, one way or another.
I will not give up beer.
I will post more gibberish.
Sincerely;
Ivar
Well done, Ivar.
There can't be many of us who haven't dreamed (if only for a few minutes) of working as a guitar salesman/QC/"minor repairs"person, with access to all the latest and best.
Are you going to charge a penalty fee to players of riffs from "Smoke On The Water" and "Sunshine Of Your Love" (and "Apache")?
