OT: Problems with latest Micorosoft security update

In case any of you have downloaded Microsoft's latest security update (April
11th) and are having problems since, there is a problem with one of the 6
update files (KB908531).
Microsoft have - 4 days later! - admitted this and have now published a
resolution at:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165
The rogue update file causes Windows and some MS Office programs to
malfunction if users have some HP printers/scanners.
(In my case, I found I could not save new Word documents - the computer just
"hung".)
The resolution involves going into regedit and typing in a long string of
digits. Hint:do a copy-and-paste when you do this, as it's very easy to get
this wrong!
The resolution worked in my case but it beggars belief that MS would issue a
windows security update which was incompatible with the products of perhaps
one of the world leaders in print technology!
....but there again, perhaps not.
Have fun,
George
.
