But it's not as if they're short of a few bob. This sounds to me like a
couple of middle managers/accountants have worked out a deal that will
bring in squillions of quids and presented it to both parties as a
straightforward business (as opposed to artistic) venture.
It's the motivation that puzzles me. Both Ms Ciccone and the B's have
more money than they can burn, and although it's a nice little hook the
track would work just as well without it (IMHO). I could imagine an
unknown band using a 'famous' sample to bring instant recognition to a
single but I can't imagine a new Madonna cut not getting guaranteed
airplay.
Or is this the first sign of 'ringtone culture' entering the creative
process?
