I'm sorry that she has such an affliction, I hope it's not as serious
as it sounds, and that she will effect a full recovery so that we can
all enjoy her singing in the future as much as we have done in the
past.
Nevertheless, as someone who criticised her voice, but also wondered
about the possibility that there may have been extraneous reasons for
it, I don't feel any different. Simply, her singing was
disappointingly below her previous standard, and knowing the reasons
for it doesn't change that.
While canceling gigs is not to be done for inadequate reasons, I would
suppose that anyone here would consider the explanation given more
than adequate reason to cancel, and wouldn't it have been better all
round to have done so? She would have avoided doing herself an
injustice with her singing, which would have given a possibly terminal
impression to those hearing her for the first time and who therefore,
unlike others here, would not have known that she is/was capable of so
much better.
BTAIM, best wishes for a full and speedy recovery, Eliza!
