ANN: Wadebridge Folk Festival Latest Press Release

WADEBRIDGE FOLK FESTIVAL 2008

Following the great success of the last-minute Wadebridge Folk Weekend in
2007, The Wadebridge Folk Festival will take place over the August bank
holiday in 2008. The festival, which has been organised by Hobgoblin Music
will feature some of the South West's best and most popular artists and
bands, with a few great acts from the rest of Britain stirred into the mix!

Four days of concerts, ceilidhs, sessions, workshops, dances and singarounds
will begin on Friday 22nd August with a concert by the ever popular Show of
Hands, followed by a Ceilidh led by Hobgoblin Music founders Pete and Mannie
McClelland.

As well as concerts, workshops and ceilidhs at the Town Hall, there are many
other events taking place around Wadebridge during the festival. There will
be free gigs, sessions and singarounds at three other venues around the
town: The Bridge on Wool, The Ship Inn and the Molesworth Arms Hotel. There
will also be street entertainment in Wadebridge town centre throughout the
weekend, and a craft fair at the St John's Ambulance Hall in Wadebridge.

Tickets are on sale now for the festival. All events are individually
ticketed, and there are also day season tickets available in advance or at
the festival. However the best value comes with the full season ticket,
which at just £63 covers every concert, ceilidh and workshop at the
festival - that's nine concerts and dances and up to 6 non-clashing
workshops.

On Saturday, Wadebridge Folk Festival is one of the first ever events to
present Dave Swarbrick's new band, Lazarus, a trio featuring the legendary
English Fiddler Dave Swarbrick (ex-Fairport Convention, ex-Whippersnapper),
ace guitarist Kevin Dempsey (ex-Whippersnapper) and multi-instrumentalist
Maartin All*** (ex-Fairport Convention, ex-Jethro Tull). Swarb's Lazarus
play mostly traditional music of the British Isles, with all the charm and
showmanship you would expect from these legendary musicians.

Warm, humourous and engaging, Australian duo Kate Burke and Ruth Hazleton
are also on the bill for the Saturday evening concert with Lazarus.

On Saturday afternoon is a concert headlined by Louis Eliot (once of
ninetines Britpop Romatic band Rialto), who has been heralded by Vogue
magazine as a 'Country Troubadour', performing with his band a mix of
country, folk and an unshakable pop, and later in the evening there's a Noze
Looan (Literally 'Happy Night') dance night with Dalla who have ignited the
traditional music of Cornwall with their boundless imagination and
irrepressible, infectious approach to the music.

The Sunday afternoon concert with Dalla will be followed later by an evening
concert headlined by 3 Daft Monkeys, a trio playing world influenced
acoustic music, with a hint of the bizarre!

On Monday afternoon, the local acts take over, with a Cornish music
afternoon featuring local artists Thorn & Roses, Leski, Mike O'Connor,
Caracana and Elowen, followed later by a ceilidh with the fun and talented
band Aardvark, with caller Pete Grassby.

Artists playing at the festival: Show of Hands, Swarb's Lazarus, 3 Daft
Monkeys, Dalla, Pete Berryman, Louis Eliot, Aardvark, Steve Turner, Elowen,
