The messageHobgoblin in Rathbone Place have a s/h Suzuki bowl-back just now. To my ear, it sounds rather Japanese.

I had a Crafter, but couldn't really get on with it - I've now got a
solid-bodied Errington, which I found on Ebay for £150 and love to
bits. The mandolin player in my former band has a Fylde, which is
lovely, but probably out of your price range, unless you can find one
second-hand? Before that he had a Suzuki, which was an excellent
instrument and great value for money.
I go along with the Suzuki - I bought one (complete with pickup) thirty
years ago for £50 and the sound was superb, both acoustic and electric.
It died after a mishap in a house move last year and I finally got one
on Ebay from the US for about £80. The sound is clean and loud - it
rings like a bell and the action is excellent. Infinitely better than
anything else you can get for the money.
Went in to try the cheap stuff, then handled a Fylde., Drat. Should't sensibly spend £625 on an instrument I can play, never mind one I can't, but it is gorgeous.
