Essex would be interested to know that Ken Nicol,
will be playing a gig at the High Barn in Great Bardfield
on Friday 17 August. He has worked with Steeleye Span
Loudon Wainwright III, the Albion Band, Ashley Hutchings,
Al Stewart and several others.
Other reasons to catch the gig are (i) that a local singer,
Marina Florance, who has a voice that's to die for, is
opening, and (ii) that the venue is a (very sensitively) converted,
gorgeous medieval barn with flawless acoustics.
Is it just me (again)? The phrase "a voice to die for" makes me want
to throw a Roget's Thesaurus at someone :-]
I've heard a lot of voices described as such and often they're just
Cara Dillon clones or some such ...
