Why am I suddenly seeing posts in umf that don't seem to belong, seem
to be replies to posts from other groups? Is there something wrong?
I'm using Google Groups (I have to:-) if that's relevant.
If it is any sort of consolation, I am a regular poster in
england.religion.christian and alt.religion.christian.episcopal and we are
being continually plagued by these fake topics cross-posted to all sorts of
unrelated groups. Worse, they deliberately target individuals by replying
to their posts bringing in all sorts of other groups which the unwary will
unintentionally be posting *their* replies to.
I have been posting (to the two groups mentioned) a series on the 39
Articles from the 17th Century 'Book of Common Prayer', which IS of interest
to SOME of the people in the groups I intended them for, but I'm afraid
rather boring for anyone else! What I would say, is that I only posted the
original threads to those two groups, but it is very tiring to have to
continually monitor the 'Newsgroups' header before posting, to ensure that
my post is only going to the right places.... From time to time I also fall
into the trap and unintentionally cross-post.
I think we'd all be better off without the facility to cross-post.
Anyhow I wish you all well in uk.music.folk, and apologise if any of my 39
Articles threads end up in here.
Tim.
