was telling you something helpful; what you needed to hear wasn't

How *do* you expect anyone to work out the repair costs for an
instrument without seeing it?
Your next question might be, "is there a concertina player local to
me who could look at it and give me some ideas?" - but insulting
them in advance isn't going to help.
