You missed the point I was making. The old Macs were safer by default of
their rare OS than those now using more widely used Unix systems. Nowhere
in the article did the BBC Journo' mention that.

After NAV What do you recommend?

Back On Topic... Yes I complained a few weeks ago when I discovered that -
whatever I tried to do - I could not access folkmap. That's history. It is
just a fact.

I can access everything else I mean EVERYTHING I need on the Internet. I'm
happy to live without folkmap for now - really. When I get the PC configured
for Broadband, I'll be giving it a go I'm sure.

I do live in the real world though. I just wonder how many of the people
looking for sessions and related info' are armed with the latest tech? I'll
bet the number who can't access outnumber those who can right now without
downloading all kinds of upgrades.

I email info' on sessions and concerts to 500 people almost weekly, but I
still also send out mailings to 100 people who haven't even got computers!
Even some of those who have got computers hate them and refuse to waste time
with them... I know how they feel - it's the real world.

This NG is full of computer programmers and enthusiasts (I count about a
dozen) for chrissakes... people in here all have fairly up-to-date gear.

I am always happy to get advice. I have always used my real e-mail address.
I don't seem to get any more spam than anyone else does who tries to
disguise it - but I don't miss posts either. I receive up to about 10-12
spam items a day usually including the normal bogus stuff and virus
attachments - I simply bin the lot.

Bear in mind that I do not store private personal information and financial
info' nor make financial transactions, nor pay bills via the net. In
addition, I do not use any of the automated form fillers and leave that
info' blank and locked off wherever it appears.

I don't trust computers or their vulnerability - quite the opposite. I
recently dumped and re-downloaded browser SW for the reason I suspected
something was not right.

Thanks for your concern though. Am I particularly vulnerable? Again. What
else do you recommend? I use Norton Anti-virus for Mac - update it every
month - security set.
