must be the nearest things to a Huff Haus that one can buy in England.I saw the Huff House on CH4 Grand Designs, and it's follow up
They come with everything, right down to ring spanners and canisters of
expanding polystyrene foam, junction boxes, cabling and conduit for
wiring
the windows. Quite remarkable.
Damn! You can go off people. I love Grand Designs and thought I'd seen all
of them at least twice, but I seem to have missed those.
several times over the last 5 years.
I'd assumed those were what you were referring to?
If i see it being repeated i'll drop you an email or text
<snip>
It makes you wonder why the hell people still buy new Wimpy / Barretts,
etc.
on spec, timber framed toss boxes?
Maybe they want to appear on TV's New homes from Hell?
The trouble with Forestry Commission English-grown pine for brick clad
system-built frame houses is that the stands are tightly packed to
encourage rapid growth.
British spec builders love the idea of using material that will rot or be
eaten
within 25 years, lots of lovely expensive repairs but long enough later
for the original builder to be able to deny liability.
On the CH4 program they went to the Hof factory in Germany, where
they saw materials not available anywhere else being used.
They clearly demonstrated that mass produced pre fab housing
can actually be far better than the usual tat built on site
If Gordos Gov was the slightest bit interested in low cost building?
Then Hof have showed the way with purpose built factories to
build state of the art pre fab buildings.
In the program what was inevitable was the stereotypical cock-up
of a British driver not being able to find the site, holding up the
entire German crew from starting by nearly a day, and of course
the Germans then caught up and exceed the schedule to finish just
ahead of time, in i think it was only 6 days!
With every nut and bolt inspected by their own German on site
inspector.
The follow up showed how the owner had customised the house
