I'm trying to work out why it makes sense to give a measurement for a
window covering in feet.
We've ordered a couple of sets of m2m curtains recently, first ones I
gave measurements in m, the guy in the shop looked slightly puzzled,
initially wrote them down as cm until I corrected the figure, and then
converted them to feet and inches, second set I gave measurements (to a
different chap) in ft/in which were greeted with "good man, feet and
inches, that's what I like". Maybe it's a feature of the curtain trade.
I think the cloth is still made in multiples of inches, for one thing.
The cloth was actually Italian, so I'd guess it's made measured in
metric.
By the braccio, mayhap?
