Erm no, no confusion, solar eclipses only occur at the time of a full
moon for the simple reason that the moon has to be in a direct line
between the Earth and the Sun and so facing the observer.
Suggest you rethink this one.
Yes sorry, *new* moon of course, not *full*, for if the moon was facing
earth it could not, of course, be illuminated by the sun. It's full for
lunar eclipses.
