No, the reason is that the US stock market and the London stock
market. You want to be closer to USA not to Europe that is why you
want to have 1 hour earlier.

UK is on the same longitude as france so there is no reason to have 1
hour earlier.

One hour nearer to US Eastern standard time..that really does make a
difference.

Your comment is a nonsense when you consider that every time zone has to
have a line where near places either side are 1 hour a part, and in the case
of the middle of the pacific a whole day!

Kindly check your PC Time Zone again. The UK is not the only EU country
which isn't the same as France! What stupid reasons have you got for
Ireland?

Ireland is just adjusting to the UK. But at least they have euro. I
heard from UK officials on CNn TV some years
ago that the main reason is the trade and financial contacts with USA.

You are right, France is not central europe, yet they are using the
CET. What you should ask, if France is at same longitude as the UK why
France is using CET and you GMT ...?
