I have a bookshelf full of the Dr Who books and almost without exception
I've found them a poor read. Not that the authors are bad, it's just that
the stories are very formula driven.
Why do you keep buying them then ;)
It's all we had for years after Sophie & Sylv went off to see who was making a cup of tea at Barnards Star :-)
There were notable exceptions to my negative attitude to the book.
Funny enough I hadn't noticed until now that all the well worn books on the shelf are by Terrance Dicks. He does have a way of bringing vitality to the stories in a way that other authors don't.
The Horror Of Fang Rock
The Brain Of Morbius
The Talons Of Weng Chiang
The Eight Doctors (really superb)
In fact I'll take the Eight Doctors on the train in the morning.
