The sorts of places where you get fined for measuring in yards
instead of metres usually have moving walkways everywhere, to
assist disabled people. (Huge piles of unspent development
grant money are debilitating to politicians.)

I'd probably collapse in a wheezing heap after 400 metres, and
get carried over the finish line by a sympathetic pavement.
