Chris, you can't claim to be bullied when you are overtly presenting
your self to be bullied. You are not wanted here and have been told
so. But you keep coming back to bait the so called bulling. You get
it, then complain.

Not wanted here? Is that why there are so many replies to this
thread? Is that why any thread about him seems to generate more
replies than even Allan Tracy rants? Is that why you and it seems
most of the other regulars haven't killfiled him? He doesn't try to
get round killfiles by changing his email address, it would be a
piece of piss to make him "disappear" if you really didn't want him
here.

ISTM he is very much wanted here, he's the group's "whipping boy".

If that were true, during Barker's flounces there would be a certain
amount
of conversation regarding him. In reality, when he is not here there is
little, if any, mention of him.

What can be observed is that there is a culture in UMTM of allowing
the most outrageous things to be said to CB just because he's CB,
although the exact same things if said to anyone else would provoke
protest (and not only from the PC-minded).

No, its not because he is CB, its a reaction to what CB posts.

On the other hand, it's true, as you say, that UMTM doesn't seem
to /need/ CB in order to function without internal rancour.

Well, that's a good think. There are no little groups here, and people argue
the subject, and not the person posting. I regularly have replies from the
same people who on one subject agree with me, and other subjects they think
im a twat. This is a very good thing IMHO.

But for that very reason, it ought to be fairly easy to give up
UMTM's apparent addiction to CB-bashing.

Well, I wouldn't call it an addiction. Mere cause and effect.

(But I don't even know if I can give up my addiction to reading
these threads!)

Oh I do so agree !!!!!!

People who've been attacked by him, as individuals, will presumably
continue to wish, as individuals, to have a go at him, and they can't
be blamed for that.

But if UMTM collectively doesn't need CB as a scapegoat (and I agree
with you that it doesn't /seem/ to), then it seems to me that there
should be less tolerance for individuals who indulge in outrageous
insults that aren't only offensive to CB as an individual (who may
well deserve them all, for all I know).

No. He posts serious (ish) allegations. Obviously those accused will reply
in what ever way they feel, how ever, I believe it remains important for
those not involved so show some sort of acknowledgement.

Dunno if I'm clear there. Erm, say you see somebody going to mug another
person. The victim may well beat the mugger, but its important for other
watching to sort of say, yes you were mugged, that was something wrong done
to you. Do you sort of see what I mean?

Anyway, I completely understand your points. What ever way you look at it,
its quite fascinating. And don't ask me why I get involved, I don't really
know. Probably some thing deep in my childhood!!!
