surely they'd be out driving cars and motorbikes and getting pissed!

Yes, apart from being a continuity nightmare, it's all terribly middle-
class and "nice". All the people seem to manage to shower, shave and
have clean clothes the whole time. Only the baddies[1] have guns and
everyone else seems to be the sort of enlightened liberal that only the
BBC would consider realistic in such a series.

[1] and are excellent shots, where the script demands it.
