Is it totally fucked or is there a way of making it do something again? Ta.
If you're just trying anything, perhaps you could try booting from a
live Ubuntu CD and seeing if it has any better luck. IE look for files,
and it it appears dead, load up gparted (gnome partition editor) and see
if it's reporting it as ntfs or empty or not present etc)

Ta for the input, but I hooked it up to my 2nd PC a short while ago, and was
just about to report back as I can only presume it takes Getdataback a bit
longer to do all the searching for drives, as it's found it (although it
doesn't seem to recognise it as NTFS, which is worrying unless I'm reading
something wrong - after all, when I originally posted it was doing sweet FA,
so anything's a plus at the moment).

It's now going through all the files on the disc and it's just come to some
named files that I recognise so I'll let it crack on.

Last time, with a 250Gb drive, I started it going in the evening and I was at
work the next day so still left it going and I sorted things out when I got
back, so god knows how long this will take but I'll just have to let it take
as long as it takes.

Put your fucking clock back already.

Two responses:

(a) Useful(!) and what I really don't care about at the moment

(b) I did. You're the one who's an hour behind everyone else.
