Sofa - Spud goes:
I think the Daily Mail is credited with far more power than they
actually have.
All they did in this was make a couple of cannonballs. It was the
Great British Public wot fired them all. The Daily Mail simply knows a
good outrage story when it sees one, and it knows it only has to light
the blue touch-paper and its readers will go off on one all by
themselves. This one had it all: a doddering old gent who's a comedy
legend; a lingering dislike of Ross and distrust of the sleazeball
Brand; discontent at the amount of money they make; and the apparent
impunity big stars feel when interacting with the hoi polloi. That is,
you and me, or the Daily Mail's own readers more exactly.
