Ross has just announced this, according to Simon Mayo on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Due to lack of comedy?

I'm more interested to see whether he was supposed to be featuring on
Children In Need or whether there are any pre-recorded segments
they'll have to ditch just because he's in them.

But both Brand and Ross seem to be quitting from things as if to be
putting out a "you'll miss us when we're gone", message. I'm
reasonably sure we won't.

"We" being who exactly ? How many people are you claiming to be speaking
on behalf of ?

It's all down to ratings. Apparently Brand pulled a good audience for that
particular slot on Radio 2. Same as Ross for his slot.

With Ross the BBC have a different problem. Nobodys's ever stated explicitly
that he was being paid the £6 mill a year. But if he was, the only justification
could be that he'd easily command an equivalent amount elsewhere.

If the BBC terminate all his contracts before making sure "he's snapped
up by a competitor " - however they can manage that - then they're going to
be left with egg on their faces. Right now they're probably negotiating with
Ross to make up any loss of salary on his current contract should he move to
Channel 4. Maybe by way of an under the counter "transfer" deal of some kind.
