Many things happen in the galaxy. The SSE merely happens to be near some of
them.

The galaxy is a fairly big place and we don't see everything. Perhaps the
Vulcans, Kingons, etc are near several other events and deal with them.

BTW, what do you think the rest of Star Fleet get up to? Just hanging around
watching Corrie?
