The tom cruise remake of war of the worlds shown the other week was
utter *** .
The guy peirce remake of the time machine shown last night was total and
complete utter *** .
While hollywood can get a remake right (e.g. cape fear) and actually
improve it - the way things stand they currently get it right about once
every 15-20 years .
Although , If cape fear was remade now max cady would no doubt meet a
single mother half way through the film as a love interest for the women
viewers and he would be torn between his lust for revenge and becoming a
productive member of society by becoming a family man .
Family'ising every remake isnt a new thing of course as the forrest
whitaker remake of 7 days in may introduced the apple pie family values
routine by giving him a wife and and 15 year son who was at the 15 year
old crossroad turn out good or bad fork in the road .
So , Watching a modern day remake has become something you know that you
wont enjoy as the only reason to watch it is to see how much they
bastardise the original version .
*** - they even introduced a woman into the remake of flight of the
phoenix to give woman viewers something they could relate too :-)
