I don't watch Property Ladder at all, since it seems to me they film
several projects and just show the one that went badly wrong, spending
more money on a kitchen tap than others do for a whole renovation.

However, I do watch Homes Under The Hammer which lacks the budget to
throw away films, and so we get a better cross-section. They have shown
plenty of episodes since the credit crunch, and sensibly-minded property
developers are doing perfectly well, since it always costs much less to
do up run-down houses than people are willing to pay for the result.
