People have spent far far too much on credit, paid ridiculous prices
for property for many years and have bought huge vehicl es which
cost more to run and are now conveniently blaming the government
when it all goes "tits up".
Everybody else is to blame but themselves.
I'm sure exactly the same economic situation would have happened
had the Tories been in power.
Well we wouldn't have had all those taxes for a start.
But yes, you're right, there's plenty, especially the housing market,
where you can only blame the people themselves.
However, whilst in principle not in any way responsible for the
housing market, a sensible competent government might have seen
trouble coming (it was bleeding obvious it was going to all end in
tears) and alleviated it, instead, as New Labour have been doing,
cheering on from the sides.
They might just have considered this, if only for reasons of their own
preservation.
Besides, we need an independent BoE, with all its powers, to ensure
that greatest of all evils ‘inflation’ is controlled for fear of
economic disaster.
That this should be a New Labour boast is fair dos but then, why was
it OK to also boast that the electorate has seen the value of their
properties rise thanks [sic] to housing price inflation as though this
was a good thing – it’s bit of a contradiction isn’t it?
