decide what size you want first of all. If you can afford it get
full HD and a box, but that requires paying rupert a subscription
which I dont recommend. You'll notice the drop in picture quality
otherwise

Back to this - There`s an advert in the paper for a Sony Bravia LCD
TV KDL32U3000U from Sainsburys. It`s offering it for £399 down from
£599, a saving of ***£200***. Oooh! thinks I. That sounds like a
good deal, so I get online and do a quick Google. Up to now nowhere
else can I see a claim that it priced at £599. Play.com say RRP is
£520 and is offering it for £429. Tut, tut.

I wouldn't touch an LCD with a bargepole. Most of the telly anyone
will watch for a long time will be standard defintion, which looks
shit on LCD.

Plasmas start at 37", so it's a bit odd to go from 32" to 37" but I
don't regret it and the Xbox 360 looks incredible on it.

Ther`s is were I`m stuck. The size. It`s just too big for the space I have.
So I`m stuck with the LCD:-( I`ve read a few reviews on the above Sony and
they seem to suggest that the picture with the Xbox looks pretty stunning as
well.

Standard def
telly looks perfectly fine, if you accept that the low-rent channels
on Sky won't have many favours done by being made bigger. However, I
was recommended this telly in a couple of places (threads on the TiVo
UK forum and one about the telly in a thread about it on Digital Spy,
and there's also an AVforums thread about it) and John Lewis will
pricematch with Sound and Vision in Bolton (which is usually just a
few pounds more than their online price - currently £593.99 as I
type), and JL throw in a 5-year warranty (plus delivery is free
because it is free on the site below).

Another quicky. I have a sky box with no sub. Is BBC HD free on Sky?

If you have a Sky HD box. However, BBC HD has a ridiculous big logo
which is rather odd as if you can't tell you're watching BBC HD given
that you've just spent a wad of money on a telly and a new Sky box(!)

Ah, I don`t. Mine is just the old one. NTL have been phoning people up in
this area offering people one of their boxes for free. I`ll have to find out
whether it does HD or not.

Just to add - the reason I was missing your posts (as mentioned in another
thread) was because you seem to be posting via Google and I was filtering
that to try and avoid a lot of the junk postings. What`s with using Google?
You posting from work or summat?
