Re-run on UK TV History which I believe is available to Freeview
viewers so a first I think.

Tonight 7pm with repeats throughout the week.

In my book, this is still the best presentation ever of that period
despite countless subsequent films and TV series, almost certainly
helped by the length of the coverage (six hour long episodes).

Why can’t they do TV like this anymore no big budgets, lavish sets,
locations shoots or special effects just a plain studio and
concentrating on what matters most to convey the story the acting and
the writing.

I bet the whole series of Elizabeth R cost less than just one episode
of those recent TV productions – it used to be what the BBC was for.

Now it's all big budgets and bull*** and because it costs so much the
perfect excuse not to do so much of this sort of thing.
