While 4Gb can easily hold well over 1000 tracks, most of the players I looked at seem to have menuing issues with accessing more than 1000.

Can you recommend one that *can* handle over 1000 tracks? I'm looking to spend no more than £50-60. (I don't need extras like FM tuners or video playback).


If you can go up by just another few pounds, at least look at the Sony Walkman NWZ-A816, but make sure it's not the old version hobbled by Sonic Stage but can work by drag and drop of standard mp3 files through Windows Explorer. I've had no problems with the corresponding 8Gb version with a large number of tracks, but have to admit I've not heard at all of the problem you mention.
