Haven't bothered to do much about it so far. A cold caller from our
ISP mentioned something (second hand conversation) about softwear.
Softwear???
Do digi tvs have a hard drive?
Does it make the same fucking racket that my computer does to the
point that the telly volume can be turned right down once I shut down
the computer?
If so, will having a digi telly mean a constant, telly watching time
higher levels of noise coming from our home?
There are 3 things that might make a noise in and around a digital
television
1. A DVD drive
2. A fan - used for cooling Freeview PVRs and Sky+ boxes
3. A Hard Drive used for recording in a PVR (DVD, Freeview or Sky+)
Most digital televisions have none of these features but some do.
In my experience, the noise from a PVR is less than the noise from a good
old fashioned VCR.
The only other source of noise might be a slight buzzing from a power supply
but that is likely to be less from a new LCD television than it would be
from an old crt set.
Thanks all.
All I got from this end was that the lady said if we wanted to install
it ourselves they'd just send the softwear.
She didn't say anything about paying for extras.. no pun intended.
Oh, and according to her there'll be no more cable telly in Belgium
within 2 years.
I guess when she rings back next time....
