It would be cromulent to have the words appearing in chalk on a
blackboard if the news item were discussing education. If the article
were about the NHS, they'd probably display graphs made up of syringes
filled with varying levels of coloured fluid. If the subject is the
economy, expect to see a stack of coins representing the figures.
It's all rather patronising when you think about it, as it seems to be
based on the presumption that we won't be able to follow what they're
saying unless it's represented in the manner of a child's picture book.

I couldn't agree more. It is patronising.

I suppose they're trying to demonstrate how clever they are, but really it's just dumbing down.
