On much later than normal due to a lot of stupid people running,
they're doing a piece on the Tory party conference and announces a
'talking heads' shot of Kenneth Baker by having the presenter of the
piece, Gillian Hargreaves, sitting down at a table, opening a laptop
where a superimposed picture of him appears, and then the video
footage of him talking starts and it zooms out to fill the TV screen.
Why do something like that rather than just introduce the piece
normally????
It's like many news items where a presenter will stand next to a blackboard or a wall, and all the statistics he comes up with miraculously appear on it in chalk or graffiti. Because they can.
It's the same as international rugby or football matches where advertisers or sponsors go to inordinate lengths to paint their logos in a distorted manner on the pitch so that they appear to be standing upright from the main camera angle, and where the broadcasting company simultaneously goes to inordinate lengths to distort team emblems so they appear to be lying flat on the pitch.
Tedious.
