It's funny how those who *don't* like BB will post just to tell this .
No one posts to say they don't like East Enders and don't watch it or
The Bill.
Oh they do. I've been reprimanded in the past for watching Coronation
Street, even though I only do that if I happen to be cooking. (It's one
of the few things I can follow with my back to the screen -- hmm, maybe
it should move to radio?)
It's on one channel at 9 or 10 pm , it's on E4 for half and hour at
7:30 - it's on Live Feed on E4 through the night and during the day .
There are umpteen *other* channels - who is sitting in the middle of
the day *forced* to watch BB on Live feed - all the rest of the year
it's back to back friends.
Yay! Friends has plot, and Courtney Cox is in it which helps keeps Paul
Hyett smiling. ;)
It's crazy the way some carry on.
Actually I don't watch East Enders or The Bill either, but at least they
don't come on as often as BB seems to, and generate nowhere near the silly
hype :)
It's the whole 6-10pm slot on BBC1 & ITV that pisses me off, not just
the soaps between 7 and 8pm. You switch to the Freeview channels and
it's all Nanny91Bollocks, Judge Moody, Dr Who Extra, Some Other Show
Extra, Wrigley's Extra, or yet another dull as *** reality show in
which drunks, coppers or nightclub bouncers are followed around. And
even when those series' finish, they end up showing exactly the same
thing again, only this time with American accents and producers.
So you put Sky Three on but decide you'd better not get too loyal to any
shows because that Murdoch Jnr twat is probably going to pull the plug
in a few weeks....so you put E4 on but Big Brother is on, so you put
E4+1 on but Big Brother is on, so you put Film Four on but discover it's
that film you've already seen ten times, so you put Five US on and feel
like projectile vomiting at the screen because Gay, Straight or Taken is
one sickeningly clichéd idea of a show, so you put BBC News 24 on and
feel so patronized that you start having flashbacks to Listen With
Mother...then you put Sky News on and -- coming to the conclusion that
it's just a few days away from morphing into Fox -- decide to put a gun
to your head and blow your brains out.
But unfortunately this isn't America, that's a remote control in your
hand, and the British Government would never make suicide so easy.
Bastards.
It is also interesting how those that *do* regularly watch BB seem curiously
reluctant to admit this public, with the notable exception of ASL of course
;)
Anyway.. my question has been answered - it look like I have another 5 to 6
weeks of drudgery ahead.
Does BB really bring in 25% of C4's revenue? Crikey!
Is that true? I could believe it of years gone by, but they're not
making profits from phone calls this year are they?
But you see if you train in the gym or go running that 5 - 7 pm dead
zone is sorted , if not Torrents can give you Heroes,4400, BSG s
1,2,3 , Dead Like Me.
I go running at 6am-7am, and we have a gym in the building so my
schedule for that is variable. My daily timetable is rather erratic and
it's quite telling that -- despite my unpredictable schedule -- the same
old *** always seems to be on the TV, no matter what time I switch it on.

I've been downloading torrents for years of course, and my viewing
habits in that respect are pretty telling too. The stuff I download is
more likely to be sourced in the US, France or Japan than the UK.

I'm going through a serious Japanese film phase right now. Battle
Royale, Zatoichi, etc. Anybody in umtm got any recommendations? I'd
love to see more stuff with Takeshi Kitano but he has quite the IMDb
profile and I'm not sure for which films/dramas he's most renowned.

LJM -_-*,,|,-

If thats the case why worry about the 6 -8 dead zone?

Well I wouldn't say I "worry" about it, but I certainly have reason to
notice it, and being in a TV newsgroup, figured I could have a good old
moan about it.

I don't plan my evenings around television, but as I mention above, I
often find myself cooking around 7pm so it goes on while I do that. If
I'm planning on going out for a drink, I'm unlikely to watch a film I've
bought, rented or downloaded so the TV will remain on while I'm getting
ready to go out.

Explaining why I find myself watching mainstream TV channels at certain
times seems rather odd....

The thing I've found funny is that given the amount of channels
available to those with sky/cable etc and all the DVD's , downloads ,
gaming etc that *anyone* watches some of the more obscure stuff yet if
I post about something I've caught on ITV4 or BBC3 there are loads
that will have watched it . I'm suprised anyone watches some of the
stuff on BBC1 yet it's popular and gets lots of veiwers - like
Jekyll , yet there are all these other channels. Few post here and say
- wow did you catch this on Sky 2 etc .

What was it ? - 67 channels and nothing on? Then again it's all about
time - how did I ever do most of GT3 on Ps2??or Commandos on Pc ?

What I _would_ like is a first person shootem up for Pc , but when I'd
play I don't know

.
