Just off the top of my head, Barky's threatened at least
half-a-dozen people that I know of... Of course, he's also a
prancing little poltroon, so when anyone has taken him up on his
challenges he runs bleating in terror.

So Daniel, still think he's whiter than white?

I never said he, or anyone else, was whiter than white. You're
putting words into my mouth now, Jeff.

You're making out that we're the bullies for picking on him but I've
never seen you calling him one for his behaviour. Why is that?

No, I'm saying that he seems to get jumped on just because of who he
is. People appear unwilling to ever give him the benefit of the
doubt. Baiting him has become a sport on this group.

Still want to stick up for him?

It's not a case of sticking up for him. I'm merely expressing my
opinion which, shocking though it may be to some on here, is sometimes
in agreement with Ming. I know that's frowned upon on UMTM, but there
you go. If people don't like it, they'll just have to lump it.

You'll change your tune once he starts on you.

Why should he 'start' on me? I've no intention of insulting his wife
and family, so I should be alright on that score. We may have
differences of opinion on media related matters, but I'm sure we could
have a good old argument without falling out or getting personal.

Col used to think the same as you do now and was once one of his allies

Allies? Listen to yourself. Is there a war going on here? I thought
it was a newsgroup for casual chat and TV related discussion.

but that didn't stop Barker having a go at him. You'll get your turn soon.

So you and others say. I'm not convinced. Time will tell, eh?

Or are you condoning such behaviour?
Do you think it's OK to contact someones employer or MP to try and
get them sacked over comments they've made in here?

Has he ever claimed he's trying to get anyone sacked? As I understand
it, the contacting of the MP was for clarification, not to get anyone
into trouble.

Why else would he contact someone's employer?

Maybe he felt it was his only recourse after taking abuse directed at
his family. People are quick to criticise Ming, and accuse him of
inappropriate behaviour or taking issues into real life, but where do
all the cabbage references and the mail order bride comments fit into
that? Is insulting and mocking his family not taking things out of
this newsgroup?

And why would he need to have clarification from someone's MP
about what they said in here?

You'd have to ask him that.

Is that normal behaviour?
Of cause he was causing trouble.

He claims he wasn't. Again, because it's him you are unwilling to
give him the benefit of the doubt.- Hide quoted text -

FFS Daniel... Please take a look at his recent posts to Huw Lines (one
of the most gentlemanly and cordial posters on this group and abg-f).
Huw disagreed in a very polite manner about a minor point, resulting
in a torrent of abuse from Barker.

Barker's attacks on me began shortly after I refused to send him
review copies of the books I publish. My reasoning was that a fanzine
of less than 100 copies was hardly an important enough venue to
warrant doling out hundreds of dollars worth of free books.

Go ahead, read some of the dozens of postings he's made on abg-f? This
contemptible shit has filed false charges, attempted to get people
fired from their jobs, all the while doing such noble acts as stealing
intellectual property, passing bad checks, listing non-existent books
for sale on abe.com, filing false reports with police departments,
contacting people's MPs to cause trouble, libelling several
contemporary authors (none of whom will bother to sue him as the only
harm would be to his wife and kids, who are innocent of any wrong-
doing).

In short, once you are fully armed with the facts, I suspect that
you'll have quite a different opinion of Mr. Barker.

Cheers,

The Piper
