Local news programmes are notorious for making tenuous links to big
stories
to puff themselves up

Someone at Look East clearly thought that jumping on the bandwagon that
is
fast becoming the People's Poppet was a good idea

LOL! "The People's Poppet". I think you should email a newspaper that
would
love to publish a term like that and tell them how you're "doing your bit"
to
help find Maddy. They'll suck it up and believe it and print it.

One of my relatives received a "Help find Maddy" (or something similar)
pdf
poster by email, and not only has put it in her car but has forwarded it
to
loads of people in her address book. I tried pointing out that what she
was
doing was basically chain-lettering, but she didn't get that. Neither did
she
get it that she's buying into all the nonsense that the media are
peddling,
but then she bought into all the Dianafication ten years ago as well. Oh
dear.

yep started to receive chain letters like that, one of those pdfs is 2MB
isnt
it (thanks GMTV), you almost feel like signing those people up to every
spambot list you can find for sending that through.

I got my first "Help find Maddy" email from a customer a few hours ago. This
just has a small photo of her attached, along with a detail which I've not
heard in any news report so far: "Madeleine has a noticeable (and eye
catching) birth defect in her right eye pupil - not obvious in this
picture. It looks like the black of her pupil has run into the rest of her
eye - like a tear drop."

If saturating the UK, Portugal and other countries with these
posters/details is what it takes to find her (or at least find who did it so
they can be prosecuted) then I suppose it's worth it.
