A few years ago I used Waterstones Book Finding service to find a couple of
hard-to-find old 70s books. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to exist anymore.
This was probably before Ebay took off, and all the modern book sites.

I'm now looking for something else. I've looked at a myriad of online
secondhand book dealers, and set-up alerts to get emails should they list
the book in question - but with no luck over the last year or so.

Anyone know of any decent services with a good success rate? I've tried
everywhere online. Maybe I need an old guy in a dusty old bookshop to hunt
it down for me.

Cheers,

Fred.

There is a huge warehouse in Temple Cloud just outside Bristol called "The
Book Barn"

There are millions of books in there - I am not kidding - you would have to
contact them and find out if they can search for titles, though - I just
browse

They're online, have been for ages. You can search from your pc. They
upload their lists to the bigger listing agencies so will show up on a
bookfinder.com search.

And FF would do well to keep quiet about what the book is. In my
experience you should be very careful about imparting information
about a rare book because other people will suddenly start chasing it
if they think it's worth anything. Information is all.
