Quite the same for me. I wish I hadn't heard the earlier news of the
15% interest, that would put me into cardboard city, I thought at the
time.

When we took out our first mortgage it was 15% - for 39K , I reckon we
paid nearly 500 a month plus an edowment , which only a year or so ago
I cashed in and got compensation from the company for mis selling.
Terrible really to think of the money wasted paying mortgage when we
were first married and needed the money. Of course now having moved
and the house prices risen the mortgage is next to nothing and I've
only about 5yrs left.

But it comes to something when my teenage daughter says she wonders
how she'll ever afford a nice house - specifically with trees in the
garden! . If it rises too much it will be a disaster - how much must
these young folk be paying on a 200K shoebox here in Brum centre??

It's dreadful - imagine they have to pay the building rent too not
just their mortgage. Then if the building is falling down because it
was jerry built in the first place they'll never get their money back.
What on earth are we storing up for the future? there are building
round here that look really tatty and are only a few years old. God
help the next generation.
