Re: Man swimming in Canal!

Just come back from a jog along the canal and through local woods with
my wife, it's brilliant now the nice weather is here. Running down the
towpath moving out of the town - it's quite pleasant and not at all
built up once away from factories . Even by the factories the trees
and reeds are all coming out there are Heron , ducks , coot , geese
and fish well over 6" long in the water.

Rounding a bend I saw a step ladder in the water , I thought it was
dumped - then there was this bloke swimming FFS!! clothes on the
side , towel etc. It's not visibly manky like it used to be but it
isn't that nice , years ago you'd see oil slicks on it from the
factories duping stuff, dead dogs , bikes , old settees etc. Just from
the mass wildlife it must be clean but to SWIM??

A cheery "hello" and we were away - he'd gone when we went back that
way and looking you could see how he must have cleared reeds to make
way for the steps.

Remember though, our environment post water privatisation and environmental
legislation from Europe has improved out of all recognition. Mother nature,
when given a chance can rejuvinate and adapt pretty much any situation. All
we need to do is stop pumping the *** into the waterways, leave it a few
years nature takes over and the natural process of cleaning up takes over.

We see this everywhere, we stop hunting whale and the whales stocks balloon,
we stop fishing cod for two years, and the seas are full of them, we stop
pumping untreated sewage into our seas, and we end up with condom free
beaches.
