Wah! She asked my age. Wah!
I agree, most of us wouldn't have the time or inclination to bother.
We'd just roll our eyes at the stupidity of a policy where *everyone*
has to be asked whether they are over 21.
Right, a few people seem to think I started this thread because I
was seriously pissed off with this. I'm not. Reading my initial
post should have told them that. It was just an interesting topic
of (OT) discussion I though worth mentioning. Funny though,
how these OT threads always seem to garner far more replies
than boa fide telly ones. Anyone would think there was nothing
on the box worth talking about :)
Still, when we're being told how competitive a business retail is,
it's surprising that a store goes out of its way to ask its customers
stupid questions. Ask enough stupid questions, and have enough stupid
hoops that your customers have to jump through for the honour of
paying you *their* money to buy *your* goods, and they might just ***
off to the supermarket over the other side of the retail park, where
their money spends just as well.
It would never be enough to drive people away on it's own
but every little niggle feeds into the customer's impression of
a store. The tedious questions about packing bags, cashback
and saver stamps. If I want these services I'll *ask* for them.
I'm not bloody stupid. don't want to interact with the checkout
staff like I'm running through the menu of some call centre.
I just want to get my shopping done with a minimum of fuss,
hopefully aided by a naturally pleasant and cheery checkout
person.
