Unbelievable. Tetris games are ten-a-penny, so who would be stupid
enough to pay $5000+ to advertise in one.

Mind you, I would never have guessed a guy selling individual pixels for
$1 on his 1000x1000 pixel web page
(http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/) would be a millionaire after a
few months!

But while that was a novelty, can anyone explain WHY, if you wanted to
look for a product, you'd go to a page that has a million adverts all
jostling for position and why you'd pick one and not the other 999,999?

They probably went for it *because* it was a novelty. Most web advert
companies have a pretty bad reputation (see Gator/Claria, CoolWebSearach and
some of the reactions on The Register when DoubleClick was hit by a DOS
attack). This particular one doesn't have that reputation, so the
advertisers probably went for him because it would be better publicity for
them than being associated with Spyware.
