Deal or no Deal/Millionaire

The banker always seems to offer them much lower than their expected
value - ( add up the value of boxes divide by number of boxes)
Mathematically the best play is always to go to the end and hope to get
lucky - though it depends on the Utility of the money to the
contestant.

Probably eventually a jackpot winner will come from some rich person
who can afford to play the mathematically correct way - rather like the
first Who Wants to be a Millionaire winner Ms Keppel was probably
already a Millionairess, at least in assets, so she was freer to take
chances.

Lots of them do it .They come on and talk about
strategies,methods,plans,encouraged by NE of course .It is ALL chance
.There is as much chance of any of the £ xxx numbers being in one box
as there is of it being in another so they might as well start at one
end and work their way along to the other end..All they need to
concentrate on is whether or not to take the bankers offer when it
comes along .
The ONLY other way to get a decent amount of cash is to play to the
end and hope that the remaining 2 boxes have a choice of 2 high
amounts ,e.g £100,000 and £250,000 but on the way to that position
they would have been given a very good offer so would be silly to turn
that down .
